José Luis Capella Vargas is the Director of the Forests and Ecosystem Services Program of the Peruvian Society of Environmental Law since January 2010.
José Luis holds a Master’s degree in Political Science and Government from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. He has more than 20 years of experience in environmental law, specializing in natural resources, conservation, forests, ecosystem services and climate change. He has studies and experience in the design and implementation of public policies related to the environment and natural resources.
As Director of the Forests and Ecosystem Services Program, he currently works in the formulation, development and management of projects and consulting related to natural resources, forest and wildlife heritage, and their use and conservation as a development tool for Peruvians.
As a professor, he has been in charge for more than fifteen years of lectures related to the legal regime of natural protected areas, forestry and legal research on environmental issues at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. He also teaches environmental law at undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Universidad Antonio Ruíz de Montoya and Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, respectively.
