The Fisheries Law Training Course trains professionals to face the main challenges and policies on which the management of fisheries and marine ecosystems in Peru is based.

This initiative, created in 2017, is aimed at professionals in Law, Engineering and Biology, interested in learning about the legal and institutional framework of international and national fisheries, as well as the pending challenges for their sustainable management.

The Fisheries Law Training Course is a proposal of the SPDA in partnership with the Law School of the Scientific University of the South (UCSUR). This year 2024, the course is being carried out within the framework of the For Fisheries project, led by the SPDA, and has the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Walton Family Foundation.

The main topics covered in this course are: overview of fisheries in Peru, marine conservation, legal options for defending the marine environment, as well as other related areas, by nationally and internationally recognized experts and specialists from SPDA’s Marine Governance Program.
