Mayra Allende Lovatón has been working as a legal assistant in the Biodiversity and Indigenous Peoples Program of the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law since August 2024.

Mayra holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the Andean University of Cusco. She has experience in environmental criminal law, especially in forestry crimes and illegal mining, having worked in the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor’s Office in Cusco.

As a legal assistant, she currently participates in environmental research, including the study entitled “Illegal Gold Mining: Impacts on Human Rights and Biodiversity in the Amazon.” She has also participated in research related to protected natural areas, environmental defenders, and PIACI.

She was a member of the Peruvian Institute of Law and Literature. In 2021, she was recognized as the best speaker at the First Specialized Legal Competition on Environmental Crimes and Sustainable Development in the Amazon. She has also taken training courses at PUCP on governance and social management of biodiversity and legal anthropology, and has been trained in environmental law (SPDA, 2022) and energy and mining law (Osinergmin, 2024).
