María Nilda Palacios Aronés has been working as a Legal Assistant in the Biodiversity and Indigenous Peoples Program of the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law since July 2025.
María Nilda is a lawyer from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) and is currently studying for a second specialization in Environmental and Natural Resources Law at the same university. She has experience in environmental, administrative, civil, and commercial law and has participated in the SPDA Environmental Law Workshop (23rd edition) and the SPDA Environmental Law Clinic Workshop (first edition).

As a legal assistant, she currently contributes to and supports various program activities, including the preparation of legal reports and the legal analysis of issues related to the protection of human rights defenders and protected natural areas, as well as participation in activities and events to strengthen the capacities of indigenous communities and peoples.

As part of her commitment to the environment and sustainability, María Nilda is a member of the PUCP Environmental Law Clinic, an academic space where real environmental cases are addressed from a legal perspective. She has also participated as a speaker at various events, such as the IV Meeting of the Alliance of Environmental Law Clinics of Latin America and the Caribbean (Mexico); the III Congress on the Socio-Environmental Impacts of Mining in the Amazon (Brazil); and the conference “Clinical Legal Education in Times of Polycrisis,” organized by the University of Erfurt (Germany).
