Ernesto Bustamante Velarde has been working as Project Management Coordinator for the Marine Governance Program and the Conservamos por Naturaleza Initiative of the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law since January 2024.
Ernesto is an Environmental Engineer from the Universidad Agraria La Molina and holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from the University of New South Wales, Australia. He has more than twelve years of experience in project management related to conservation, sustainability, education, culture, and social research, as well as in the preparation of environmental impact studies and the implementation of environmental management plans. In addition, he has completed diploma courses in integrated management of marine-coastal areas, sustainable development management, and agribusiness management.
As project coordinator and manager, he is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the Blue Action Fund, Oceankind, and Ocean Defenders projects, as well as the Conservamos por la Naturaleza initiatives.
Among his achievements, he has won the IDB Challenge awards with the “Abono Limpio” (Clean Fertilizer) initiative (Peru) and the Scalesia Foundation awards (Ecuador) for the implementation of educational projects in the Galapagos Islands. In addition, he was one of the winners of scholarships awarded by the Australian Government in 2012, through the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), to study his master’s degree in Australia.
