Women in the Indigenous World" is a short documentary by Kelly Olivo, president of the Organization of Indigenous Youth and Students of Madre de Dios (Ojeimad), who tells us about the difficulties faced by indigenous women in the past through the testimonies of her grandfather and grandmother, wise men of the Shipibo-Konibo people. Olivo also invites other young women to take on leadership roles that give a voice to indigenous people.

This short documentary was produced as part of SPDA’s Indigenous Communicators Program, which is being developed in collaboration with the Indigenous Federation of the Madre de Dios River and its Tributaries (Fenamad) and the Executor of the Administrative Contract of the Amarakaeri Communal Reserve (ECA Amarakaeri). One of its main objectives is that the members of the indigenous peoples themselves are responsible for making their culture, opportunities, threats, etc. known.

Thanks to the strengthening of the capacities of indigenous communicators from different indigenous communities of Madre de Dios, through face-to-face workshops on basic concepts in writing, photography, video, among others, and with virtual accompaniment, several reports and short documentaries have been developed and shown in Puerto Maldonado, Lima, Iquitos and in places outside Peru.
