Formales por la pesca

We want the registration process to be easy, accessible, and user-friendly so that everyone can have a secure job and enjoy high-quality fishing

The small-scale fishing sector is highly informal due to various barriers that fishermen face in becoming formally registered. Among these are the complexity and length of the procedures—which require dealing with various public agencies—the costs of the process, and the need to spend time on land to complete them, while fishing activities demand long trips at sea. Added to this are the lack of clear information on the requirements and the distance to the offices where these procedures are carried out, which ultimately hinders access to formalization.

In response, “Formales Por la Pesca” has been launched—a campaign that seeks to promote and facilitate the formalization of artisanal fishing (health, registration, access, etc.) through timely and user-friendly information, as well as promotional initiatives designed specifically for people in the artisanal fishing sector.

This campaign includes various activities:

  • Dissemination of content on formalization processes, adapted for easy and accessible reading.
  • Sharing of information and handling of inquiries via WhatsApp (914-424-735)
  • Outreach events in public squares and docks, where a team of specialists provides legal and technical advice and answers questions.
  • Recognition events for individuals who have completed their formalization processes.
  • Selection and recognition of formalization ambassadors (exemplary individuals who promote formal fishing in their communities)
