Antonio Cuba Martínez has been working as a fisheries specialist in the Conservation and Marine Governance Department of the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law since January 2024.

Antonio is a marine biologist from the Universidad Científica del Sur and has completed his postgraduate studies in Biodiversity and Ecosystem Management at the Universidad Mayor de San Marcos. He has experience in studies related to fish and marine invertebrate ecology, participating in various projects monitoring the main fisheries in Peru. He has also been part of working groups on scientific research cruises and part of the team of scientists that participated in ANTAR XXVI, and has worked for 10 years at the Peruvian Sea Institute in the General Directorate of Pelagic Resources Research.

As a fisheries specialist, he is currently involved in activities related to the “Por la pesca” and ‘BAF’ projects.

He has presented various papers as lead author and co-author related to the reproductive ecology of marine fish at conferences and symposiums, such as the Symposium- “State of the Art of Habitat Monitoring” in Chile and the Symposium- “Small Pelagic Fish: New frontiers in Science and Sustainable Management” in Portugal. He also has several scientific publications on the reproductive ecology of marine fish and climate vulnerability in key species in the Humboldt Current ecosystem.
