Sustainable Investments

SPDA

We want investments in the country to be sustainable, and contribute to driving the economic growth, maximizing competitiveness, but also to contribute to closing the gaps in the different sectors, such as mining, fossil fuels, electric power, sanitation, transport, among others.  Investments should guarantee that their projects are planned and executed in a sustainable manner.

At the SPDA we seek that investments are carried out within an appropriate management of their environmental impacts, in order to prevent, mitigate and eventually compensate them. In this latter case, compensation should be carried out in each environment—an alternative being the promotion of areas where these activities may be implemented, such as habitat banks, a conservation model used to prevent the net loss of the biodiversity they host.

Our key actions are associated with the following:

  • We are working to build the capacities of public, private and civil society actors on issues associated with the exercise of skills and the defense of rights.
  • We participate in key spaces organized by public agencies, such as local governments and ministries, to submit legal contributions that guarantee investment sustainability.
  • We carry out constant supervision on prioritized roads in the Amazon, promoting actions of supervision and environmental auditing performed by the competent auditing authorities.
  • We support innovative spaces promoting dialogue and coordination among decision makers in order to produce agreements that encourage the planning and development of more sustainable investments, as well as civil society initiatives.
  • We produce and present proposals which contribute to the environmental compensation, like the implementation of habitat banks in Peru.
